Your account Step 22 of 30
Check your usage
Account → Usage shows your active domains and compliant messages against your plan, what each one counts, and what happens if you go over.
Updated
Account → Usage shows how much of your plan you’ve used this period. It’s the same count your plan’s limits are measured against.
It needs the Admin or Owner role and access to the whole account, because usage belongs to the account rather than to one client. Nobody else has Usage in their menu, and anyone else who opens it sees a short note saying who can. A member whose access covers particular clients isn’t shown the account’s figures anywhere else either: if adding a domain or inviting someone would go over the plan, they’re told who can make room rather than the plan’s name and limit.
The period
The dates under the Usage heading are the period being counted, and how much of it has gone. With a paid subscription that’s your billing period. Without one it’s the calendar month, and the page says so.
The three figures
Active domains and Compliant messages are measured against your plan. Each shows the count, your plan’s limit, and the percentage used. Where your plan has no limit, there’s no bar.
Messages processed is everything DMARCLoop parsed, including mail that failed DMARC. It’s there for context only; it isn’t billed.
Under Compliant messages, the page projects where you’ll finish the period at the current rate (On track for …). Early in a period it says it’s too early to project.
What we count
The page prints these definitions word for word at the bottom, under What we count. They’re the same definitions billing uses.
Active domain. A domain is active in a period if it was verified and we counted at least one message for it in that period, measured by when the mail was sent. Domains you added but never pointed DNS at are not counted, because we received nothing for them. Domains you removed part-way through are counted for that period, because we processed their reports and still hold their history.
Compliant message. A compliant message is one counted in a report where DMARC passed — DKIM or SPF aligned. Messages that failed DMARC, including spoofed mail sent by someone else, are not counted and never increase your bill.
So a spoofing campaign against your domain shows up in Messages processed but never in Compliant messages.
The Active domains meter isn’t quite the same thing as the number of domains you’ve added. A domain added but not yet reporting isn’t active yet. The limit on adding domains is covered in Choose a plan.
When you get close to a limit
Limits are soft. Nothing is ever cut off.
- At 80% of either limit, the page says you’ve used more than 80% of your included usage for this period, and that DMARCLoop won’t stop processing your reports.
- At 100%, it says you’re over your plan’s included usage, that Nothing has been stopped, and links to Move to a larger plan.
Reports keep being processed and your history stays intact either way, because those reports are your compliance evidence. Moving to a larger plan is done from Billing; there’s no deadline.
History
Last six months lists active domains and compliant messages month by month, so you can see whether you’re growing into a larger plan.
Accounts that manage several clients
An account that manages clients also gets a By client table: active domains, compliant messages and the total processed for each client. Clients with nothing this period are listed with zeros rather than left out, so the table can be used for re-billing.
